Electricity Theft Costs Jamaica Billions

How do people steal electricity? I really want to know. Do they climb poles and interface the powerlines? Do they take extension cords and run them from house to house? Is their an electricity fairy? Dammit I want to know!!! If you are an electricity thief please e-mail us and tell us how you do it. If you're Al-Qaeda, then forget about it.

ELECTRICITY THIEVES COST JAMAICA BILLIONS

Your Fireplace May Be Illegal

It is said that wood smoke creates a gazillion chemical compounds that could harm pregnant women, children and elves. (Have you ever had wood smoked barbecue chicken? Damn that's good.) That being said, many homeowners in Tuscon are being asked to limit their wood-burning to their fireplaces and only use it to heat their homes. Trying to create a romance mood? Stick to candles. Trying to get rid of that worrisome neighbor? Bury them in the woods. Now people say wood- burning is bad for you. Good lord.

Democrats Happy As Gasoline Hovers Around 2.50 A Gallon

I'm lost. Somebody help me. I'm just a blogger. I only point people in a direction with the articles I link to. I am not an expert in the field of energy at all. So you will have to explain to me why Democrats and some Republicans do not want to drill for oil in ANWR and off the coasts of California and Florida? Hurricane Katrina halted production for 30 percent of our oil capacity. 30 percent!!! When gas prices reached as high as six dollars a gallon, Democrats demanded that GW do something about. Two months later, he and the Republicans did something about it, Senator Ted Stevens (R) added a provision in the 2006 Defense Bill to drill for oil in ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge). How did the Democrats respond? They filibustered the bill until that provision was removed. Later, it was removed and the bill passed. My question is: how does this help lower gas prices? I'm just a blogger.

DEMOCRATS HAPPY WITH GAS PRICES--LINK

Democrats Support Higher Gasoline Prices

After a year of crying about how George W Bush and Republicans are out of touch with the American people; after a year of crying about high gas prices; after a year of crying about record profits for oil companies; Democrats BLOCKED a measure in the Senate that would help to remedy all the above problems. Senate Democrats filibustered the Defense Bill which included a provision to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Republicans had to remove the measure or the military would not be funded along with additional Hurricane Katrina relief.

Great move Dems. This does nothing to help Americans with oil prices at all. It was Democrats who cried all of 2005 about high prices do I need to remind you? It was Democrats who said that George W Bush needs to do something about high gas and oil prices. When he and Republicans actually do something about it, they block it. What hypocrites.

ABC Hypes Transit Strike: Billions Could Be Lost!!!

Cancel Christmas!!! There's a strike going on!!! Ride. Hide. Walk. As this strike lingers on, ABC NEWS.COM says that billions could be lost. Billions!!! That's a lot of millions. How will New York, The United States of America, Earth and the universe survive? We will survive because we always do. If 911, Hurricane Katrina and Nick and Jessica getting divorced couldn't kill the economy, this won't either. But it will not stop ABC, NBC, CNN and CBS from predicting the ultimate demise of this country as long as this strike continues.

Help Save General Motors

General Motors lost nearly 4 billion dollars this year. That's almost close to what I lost at the slots. High cost of labor, lower SUV sales, and the cost of prostitutes to GM executives have all contributed to GM's downfall. But you can help. GM is now working on fuel efficient SUV's. New models should get 20 miles per gallon. As the article states, "To woo buyers, GM made a raft of improvements to the new SUVs, adding more upscale interiors, new safety features and revamped powertrains that improve fuel economy to an average 20 miles per gallon." You also get a box of mints. Cool.

New Yorkers Pay 49 Cents Per Gallon Of Gas...In Taxes

Add one part local tax (31.9 cents) plus one part federal tax (18.4 cents) mix and add 20 million people you get a combined gasoline tax of 49 cents. Why is it that a state with one of the most sophisticated public transportation systems has a 49 cents per gallon gas tax? Why isn't gasoline taxed like most other commodities? You hear the stories of price gouging by local gas stations, you hear ad nauseam about the record profits that oil companies earn and you hear about how George W. Bush is fighting the war in Iraq for oil by people who don't support him. Where are the stories about tax gouging with gasoline prices? If you live in Wisconsin and are happy paying 48 cents per gallon of gasoline in taxes, more power to you. It is one of the many reasons I don't plan on moving there...that and Brett Farve.

50 Cents Of The Price of Gallon Of Gas Is Taxes?

Is that true? Do you know how much you pay in gasoline taxes? Do you care?

Gasoline taxes are used (it is said) to fix roads, bridges and holes in politician's teeth. But, if you cut the gasoline taxes in half would that mean that roads don't get fixed? Why is it that gasoline is taxed to fix roads? Don't the American people pay enough in income taxes to cover that expense?

To Buy A Hybrid Or Not?

The one thing to remember when considering buying a hybrid is this; the hybrid is still in it's infancy stage. Today's hybrid will not be the same one five years down the road. The tech is still relatively new.

The technology of the hybrid will get better. The demand will go up. Prices will go down. It's the same with all tech.

The computer that cost $600 four years ago is now $250 or lower. I own such a computer. My HP Pavilion 511 W was the shit in 2002. I bought it at Wal-Mart for $575. It's measurements are 1200 mhz Celeron Processor, 1.19 GHZ, 128 MB of Ram. Today that same computer, even if it was brand new, would cost about $200. Maybe even lower.

Chavez Wins Big; Bostonians E-Mail Their Wish-Lists

Hugo Chavez and his political party won 100 per cent of the parliament in Venezuela. That almost never happens anywhere except in a dictatorship. But Venezuela is a free country. Right? The last time a United States political party won 100 per cent of seats in Congress was...never. But Venezuela is a free country.

Chavez, who is the owner of CITGO, also reduced the price of home heating oil in the northeast section of the United States. So he can't be all bad. Right?

Carpools Should Be Fun...Why Aren't They?

I've asked the few friends I've got left (and who have a job) why don't they carpool more often. After they asked me for the money that I owed them (and realized that they weren't getting any) they answered my question.

These are the reason my friends don't carpool more often

10. You have to smell good
9. You can't get drunk
8. You can't fart
7. You can't play with yourself
6. You can't 'play' with the other passengers
5. No one can agree on the music
4. You can't 'dig for gold'
3. You can't sing
2. You can't drag
1. You can't get high

Maybe we all need to carpool more often but as I think of the reasons my friends gave, maybe buying a scooter is a better deal.
